There is no room for a turbo under the hood. I just got one and will be mounting it soon up under the body beside the transmission. I will post pictures when I do it.

Normal driving keeping it around 65mph or so gets me about 25mpg. If I would drive it easy and really try to get good mileage I bet I could get 30mpg. I hauled a 2500lb car with an 1800lb trailer 500 miles and got 19mpg for the trip with speed limits mostly at 55.

So considering the 4.3 it had only usually got around 20mpg I ended up being about the same cost per mile unloaded since diesel is more expensive. But, I have way more power now than any astro really should ever have. I managed to tear the rear suspension clamshell mounts apart trying to do a 0-60 time in it. :)

Hi Rick. I tried the ford ignition on my 300 bayou and it got it running again. However my atv does not have a mechanical spark advance so I tried a thick film ignition module from a late model ford and it brought it to life. If you or anyone else wants to try this I am more than willing to help just email me. and thanks for getting me started in thr rite direction. yarddog1015@yahoo.com

There is a lip on the upper unibody that is strong enough to lift the body. If you look at the large versions of the pictures you can get a pretty good idea of where I lifted it from.

Here is the thread I started on a message board I hang out on that goes along with this build. http://astrosafarivans.org/bb2/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=6493

Hi,
Nice Swap!
I'm attempting to do a similar mod (Diesel in an Astro) however I'm using a Cummins 4bt (bread truck) engine. What / how did you lift the body off the sub-frame? I do have a rack it just seems the body is weak unless you left from the sub-frame.
What trans controller did you use?

Thanks for your time.

Do the resistors go inline between the stator and duraspark or do they bridge the two stator wires. I can't get rid of knock under load on a yamaha Kodiak
